RIP – Doink The Clown

The professional wrestling community learned that Matt Osborne had passed away on Friday June 28th. Osborne is most famously known as the original “Doink The Clown” from the early 1990’s WWF. A ring veteran who broke into the business in the late 1970s was always known as a tough hardnosed wrestler. He has worked in Mid-South, World Class Championship Wrestling and WCW.

As Doink he was known as one of the most innovative heels in the business. Osborne was able to bring a very dark element; to what would otherwise being a funny cartoon like character. He also found time to pull tricks on other wrestlers and fans which allowed a comedic element to add to the gimmick. There were other wrestlers who portrayed Doink after Osbourne left the WWF but there were never as impactful. He returned to the WWE in 2007 to celebrate the 15th Anniversary of RAW as a part of the legends battle royal.

We at Ring Time Pro Wrestling send our condolences out to the Osborne family during this time.
