The Bloodline has been the most talked about and dominant story wrestling has ever seen over the last four years. Unfortunately, one of its elders has left us to go on to the afterlife. Sika Anoa’i of the Wild Samoans passed away at the age of 79. He and his brother Afa formed one of the greatest Tag Teams in the sport’s history. The team was a force in the 1970s and 80s. They competed all over the world and traveled to all the major territories of the time.
The team’s most notable run came in the WWWF and later the WWF. They were 3-time champions in that promotion and have won titles in the NWA, Mid-South, and Stampede Wrestling just to name a few. Sika along with his brother Afa served as the elders of the legendary Anoa’i/ Fatu family which has a rich legacy in the sport of professional wrestling. Sika is the father of Matthew Anoa’i better known as Rosey and of course, we all know the Tribal Chief Roman Reigns.
Sika retired in 1988 and continued to be involved in the sport of professional wrestling. He and Afa started the Wild Samoans Training. The two had helped train wrestlers while they were active and continued into retirement. They have trained their nephews and Hall of Famers Yokozuna and Rikishi. They are also credited with training Billy Kidman, Chris Kanyon, Bam Bam Bigelow and Batista.
The Wild Samoans were inducted in the WWE Hall of Fame in 2007 and later the Professional Wrestling Hall of Fame in 2012. Sika will be missed and condolences to the family while the mourn the loss of this legend.
