On July the 4th the Ring Time Pro Wrestling staff decided to take a day to relax and not to do our usual Thursday show. No need to worry because we did not leave our fans hanging. We are going to share with you some of our favorite matches as we celebrate this wonderful place that we call America. Some of the matches will be from the legendary Great American Bash and others will feature some of our most patriotic moments in professional wrestling.
Ric Flair(c) vs Terry Funk / World Heavyweight Title/ 07/23/89
This Great American Bash was always one of the biggest events of the summer of WCW/Jim Crockett Promotions. This match features two legends who were love to break rules and do whatever it takes to win. The Nature Boy Ric Flair defends his world title against the master of hardcore Terry Funk.
Sgt Slaughter vs Iron Sheik / 1984 @ MSG
There is no greater patriot in wrestling then the Hall of Famer Sgt. Slaughter. Real life he was a Sergeant in the United States Marine Corps. Never without the American flag by his side it’s always good to see him in the ring. His most famous foe was the Iron Sheik who was from Iran. A country that still to this day we Americans still have trouble with. Their matches were always brutal and entertaining.
(c) Ric Flair vs Sting NWA Heavyweight championship – 07/07/90
This one is from the childhood personal favorite moment file. As a huge Sting fan it was awesome to see him come down the ring in that awesome jacket and that red, white and blue face paint. Accompanied by this crew at the time known as the “Dudes With Attitudes” who helped him fend off the Four Horsemen. Flair vs Sting is always good match.
