With John Cena on hiatus the WWE has some serious programing time to fill. Who they choose to fill it with and how they use these talents can be greatly beneficial to the company. The main event side of the roster is as thin as it has been in year. With Survivor Series coming up this is prime time to build up some guys who may have a chance to make some noise come Royal Rumble time.
The company has to plan for its future and now is a good as time as any to start building on future stars. They are off to a good start with Roman Reigns for the 2nd time around. The fans seem to be on board more with this push than his road to Wrestlemania. I could be the old dead horse of this could be Dolph Ziggler’s time but we all know they are not going there. Rusev has placed himself in the dog house by declaring his love.
So we need some talents that are on the rise and just need a little help. The key now is to get guys in the main event picture and here are some feuds that I think can benefit both parties and move them towards the main event picture.
Alberto Del Rio vs Cesaro
The WWE has something special in the return of Alberto Del Rio and with him winning the title from Cena puts him front and center. Cena’s run with the US Title has definitely elevated the belt but there is still work to do in restoring the title. A marquee feud with two superstars who can perform would be must see TV. Enter Cesaro, who has been mismanaged for a long time and we could finally get to see involved in something meaningful.
Both guys are credible and for the most part this is a fresh match up. Both men are technically sound with different approaches how they handle business in the ring. Can Del Rio’s submission game nullify the power of the Swiss Superman? This one could ride out for a few months and be very entertaining.
Kevin Owens vs Dean Ambrose
With US Title picture fixed let’s do the same thing with the Intercontinental Championship. I am going to take a page out of the Daniel Bryan playbook and let this feud operate on SmackDown while the US belt would be a RAW thing. Dean Ambrose has already shown that he can rock in the main event with Seth Rollins. Now let’s give him another meaningful contest that involves a belt with a young up and comer.
Owens had gold against Cena but has not been able to recapture that kind of magic in his other entanglements on the main roster. What he will have in Dean is somebody who get people interested in the match going back and forth with the promos. Ambrose and Owens are both internet darlings and would have high intensity matches around he IC Title. Both guys seems to get lost or caught up in other guy’s issues, so now there is path for both wrestlers to make their own lane.
