The Spectacular Legacy of the AWA is a great ride through the history of a great American wrestling company. Verne Gagne’s promotion out of Minnesota had a huge impact professional wrestling. This DVD put together by the WWE is one of the better produced sports entertainment documentaries that have been made. If you are passionate about the history of the wrestling business this is a must have.
The AWA was the start of a lot of legendary careers like Ric Flair, Ricky Steamboat and Curt Hennig. Anybody who is anybody that wrestled from the 1960’s – 1980’s spent time in the AWA. Guys like Shawn Michaels, Jesse Ventura and Hulk Hogan got their first major exposure in the AWA before coming to the WWE. You also get introduced to major players that you may not be familiar with like the legendary Nick Bockwinkel and Stan Hansen.
