Today TNA Wrestling President Dixie Carter broke some major news. She stated that TNA has just signed Quinton “Rampage” Jackson. This is a part of a larger deal with Bellator MMA and Spike TV. They have Rampage signed to a multi-year contract where he will work for all three entities involved. Is this the major free-agent that Dixie was talking about? I don’t think so but either way it’s a big deal for Impact Wrestling.
This is a big win for TNA wrestling. The deal is similar to the one that they have King Mo signed to but the difference is Rampage is a much more recognizable international brand. He was in the largest MMA promotion and also starred in the A-Team movie. He obviously has promo skills and a natural tough guy presence. Quinton could have easily gone to the WWE to pursue his desire to be a pro wrestler but the unique situation at Spike TV allows him to have his cake and eat it too. How much he contributes to Impact Wrestling remains to be seen. He will definitely make it must see TV and bring in a lot of crossover fans.
