There may not a more interesting figure in the history of professional wrestling the Iron Sheik. The documentary “The Sheik” takes a detailed look at the life of this legend. This film takes on an odyssey where we learn how the man who was born Khosrow Vaziri in Iran became The Sheik.Directed by Igal Hecht, the documentary takes a very in depth look at the life of the man we know as The Sheik as he is followed extensively from 2006 to 2014.
The film is one of the best non WWE produced wrestling biographies. We start off from him growing in Iran where he started his amateur wrestling career and his time as the bodyguard for the Shah. This movie is loaded for any wrestling fan. The film interviews superstars such as The Rock, Jake Roberts, Bruce Pritchard and host of others are seen throughout the film.
The film will take you on a roller-coaster ride of highs and lows as we follow this proud professional wrestler through the trials of life after the ring. We get a tale that includes triumph, tragedy, failure and redemption. One thing you will understand after watching this is that the man from Iran has turned into a cultural icon and is the living spirit of the American Dream. This movie can be found currently on Netflix streaming and most definitely worth the watch.
