3 Matches we Never Got from Daniel Bryan

Daniel Bryan Retires 2

Now after getting over the initial shock Daniel Bryan officially retiring it dawned on me that there were some awesome matches we never got to see. We only got small sample of what Daniel Bryan vs CM Punk on the WWE stage would look like. Imagine the magic that the bearded wonder could make in a prolonged feud with Dolph Ziggler or Seth Rollins. Unfortunately, we will not get to realize those dreams or a few others. It was hard but I narrowed it down to 3 of best matches that we will never see from Daniel.

Daniel Bryan vs Kurt Angle

Bryan vs Kurt Angle

The only Olympic Gold Medalist in sports entertainment history never got a chance to tangle with the leader of the “YES” movement. Angle lost a lot of good years in TNA but he still can go and would have a good match with Bryan. They could approach this as two men who respect each other and want to just prove to each other who is the best wrestler in the world.

Daniel Bryan vs Brock Lesnar

The match a lot of WWE fans wanted at Wrestlemania 31 now will never go down. The Beast would be the perfect monster to Bryan’s sympathetic babyface. The narrative leading up to the match would be how Bryan is going to be able to handle this monster. Brock Lesnar is the most legit combat athlete ever to enter sports entertainment. He is quick strong and amazingly skilled. What Daniel will have is heart and the support of the WWE Universe. Because of his in ring ability you cannot sell the Daniel short either and can actually make the upset look realistic.

Daniel Bryan vs Shinsuke Nakamura

Bryan vs Nakamura

The wrestling world awaits the arrival of the”King of Strong Style” to the WWE but one thing he will not do when he gets there is face Daniel Bryan. This match would have had everything. To have the stiff realness of a New Japan Style match in a WWE ring would be amazing. For the hardcore fans who watch wrestling from around the world it would have been everything we expected and for casual observers it may have brought some of them back into wrestling.

Nakamura himself said that one of the things that brought him over to the states was Daniel Bryan. Of course I am little biased on this particular match, because if you have listened to any episode of the Ring Time Podcast you know that Shinsuke Nakamura is my favorite wrestler in the world. I guess we will just be left to imagine what if but hey might be a little more fun than reality.
