When I started this blog it was for wrestling fans like myself. Fans that watched wrestling currently and loved the history of professional wrestling. One of the great resources for fans who love the history of the sport are the DVD, especially the ones put out by the WWE. So I decided to introduce a weekly segment on the blog that will suggest some of my favorite DVDs. This will not be a review but just the stories that I like and think that other wrestling fans will like.
The first DVD I am recommending is “The Triumph and Tragedy of World Class Championship Wrestling”. It goes into the story of one of the most popular wrestling territories ever. Based out of Texas and headed by Fritz Von Erich and featured his sons prominently. The DVD covers the origin of the organization and the families history in wrestling. Also covered is the other major superstars like Manny Fernandez, Bruiser Brody and other wrestlers who had major impacts on the business that came through WCCW.
Also they discuss the storied rivalry of The Von Erichs and The Fabulous Freebirds. This story is a good one to see if you are familiar with WCCW or just want to see what all the hype was about.
