Overuse of Contract Signings

Contract Signing

As we get ourselves ready for every pay per view it seems like that we are subject a contract signing. The first time I watched a contract signing it was special. When Hulk Hogan and Andre the Giant signed their deal for Wrestlemania III, it was something that was only done to signify how special an event was. Fast forward almost 30 years later and a lot of things in wrestling have lost that special feeling. Maybe it’s the push to produce 5 hours of first run content per week but it just doesn’t elicit that same emotion.
Like everything in the WWE once it has any appeal it gets done over and over again. We are to the point every one of the 12 pay per views has a contract signing in the RAW or Smackdown prior. We may even have multiple signings for one show where non-world title matches get the treatment. Maybe it’s something that we should ease up on. Let’s save this for Wrestlemania and not every year, make sure there is some special stipulation. We need to stop having the predictable segment where it ends up in a fight at the end and the table being flipped over.
