Hayabusa Japanese Legend Passes Away

On Thursday we learned of the passing of Japanese wrestling legend Hayabusa. At the age of 47 he passed away from a brain hemorrhage. Not largely known to America fans Hayabusa was considered one of the greatest high flyers of his time. His most notable work was with Frontier Martial-Arts Wrestling promotion from 1994 to 2001.

Frontier specialized in hardcore matches that were similar to ECW and even had a brief working agreement with Paul Heyman’s promotion. The United States got a special treat in 1998 Heatwave, Hayabusa and Jinsei Shinzaki took on Rob Van Dam and Sabu for the ECW Tag Team Titles.
Hayabusa’s in ring career ended in 2001 when he lost his footing while attempting a springboard moonsault and landed on his head resulting in him cracking 2 vertebrae, leaving him paralyzed. Being the main superstar of the Frontier promotion his injury resulted in the company eventually folding shortly after his career ended. In 2015 after years of rehab Hayabusa eventually regained use of his legs was able to walk with the assistance of a cane. The wrestling will mourn the loss of an intense and exciting competitor.
