Brand Split Comeback

Brand Split 2

The WWE is at the apex of what looks like the next big wrestling boom. The world of sports entertainment has experienced a little down time as it does from time to time but now we are about to get hot again. The company appears to have an influx of talent with NXT exploding and new faces popping up on RAW every week. With the abundance of talent it might be time for Triple H and the gang to explore bringing back the brand split.

Smackdown vs RAW

As more guys come the space for TV is getting more and more crowded. With the dedicated SmackDown and RAW writing teams the guys would get a better chance at exposure in meaningful stories. When the company ended the brand extension and unified the belts the roster was very thin but that is not the case anymore. Younger talent may benefit from more of a chance to be featured. The company has a track record of success doing this from 2002 – 2006 where SmackDown was incredible brand that even capable of carrying its own pay per views.

We can keep RAW as a home for John Cena, Roman Reigns and Randy Orton. The number one brand of the company would be the show that towed the corporate line like it did in the early parts of the 2000s. While SmackDown would be a good fit for Dolph Ziggler, Sheamus and Daniel Bryan to headline and have some awesome matches.

Keeping wrestlers on specific shows and bringing back the annual draft would add an extra level of intrigue to the shows. With one champ this could also add some major spice to Money In The Bank and Royal Rumble scenarios. Cross branded shows would be huge draws for the company and give them the true feeling of a special event. Due to the current state of contracts with television this probably won’t happen but it’s a nice thought.
