One of the WWE’s 2013 major releases was “Dead Man Down”. The film stars Colin Farrell and Terrence Howard in this action thriller. This is also the theatrical debut of WWE superstar Wade Barrett. The plot centers around Farrell’s character Victor who is seeking revenge against a big time crime boss named Alphonse Hoyt portrayed by Howard.

The basic premise is that Victor infiltrates Hoyt’s gang and is secretly torturing him. While this is going on Victor becomes involved with his mysterious neighbor Beatrice. Beatrice reveals to Victor she has seen more of him then he actually knows and tries to use him to carry out some revenge of her own. While in the gang Victor also becomes friends with one of the members who joined around the same time that he did. All of this provides for some interesting conflict.

The movie’s standout is Howard who plays a convincing paranoid crime boss. For the wrestling fans Barrett’s role is small but he is very visible. He is member of Alphonse’s crew and has a few speaking lines. The movie itself seems like it drags a little. It seems like they could have cut out more than a few of those 118 minutes from the run time of the film. There are points in the movie where you feel like we can finish it all right but it just keeps rolling.
