May 7th: EVOLVE 30 this Saturday will be a live iPPV. Pre-order by Friday at midnight EST. atWWNLive.com to save $5, as the price will go up on the day of the show.
May 7th: There’s a lot going on at the EVOLVE cards this Friday in Queens and this Saturday in Brooklyn. Here’s things to watch for:
-Back To Basics: Things got too out-of-control at the last set of shows. This weekend will go back to some of the original principles of EVOLVE including no touching an official and no interference. The goal is to give you great, straight-forward professional wrestling.

-Johnny Gargano vs. Rich Swann I Quit Match: This match will close the weekend and we will let anything goes here after a weekend of straight-forward wrestling. These two have been at each other for over a year. The I Quit Match has a violent history in DGUSA/EVOLVE. Now the final chapter between Swann and Gargano will end with one man saying I Quit. Who will win the feud?

-Brooklyn On A Saturday Night: Special things have happened at every DGUSA/EVOLVE show at The Lyceum in Brooklyn. Now for the first time, we will be at “The Dungeon” on a Saturday night for a live iPPV. There’s no telling what will go down! What do you think will happen?

-Gentlamen’s Club Implodes: This Friday in Queens will get a special match as former partners Chuck Taylor and Drew Gulak collide. This will be the first time they are in the same building since Gulak turned on Taylor in New Orleans. This match will be placed as the semi-main event to signify its importance. Who will win this battle?

-The Colony’s Biggest Weekend: The Colony of Fire Ant & Green Ant are set for their biggest weekend in DGUSA/EVOLVE. First, this Friday in Queens will see the Fire Ant/Jigsaw feud continue in a tag team match when Jigsaw teams with Tim Donst. Then on Saturday, The Colony get their shot at The Bravados and the Open The United Gate Titles. They beat The Bravados in a six man tag at the last DGUSA event, can they do it with the titles on the line on live iPPV?

-Uhaa Nation Returns To NYC: Uhaa Nation has become a star in Japan for Dragon Gate. However, his touring schedule has kept him out of action in NYC since last summer. Now the much improved Nation returns for two huge matches involving Trent Baretta. Can he establish himself as a star like he’s done in Japan?

-AR Fox vs. Premier Athlete Brand: The feud between AR Fox and the Premier Athlete Brand has been developing in recent months. It’ll take center stage this weekend when Fox teams with Nation vs. Anthony Nese & Trent Baretta in Queens and then faces Caleb Konley on Saturday in Brooklyn. Will this feud get settled?

-Caleb Konley Biggest Singles Match Weekend: Caleb Konley has seen his profile climb since joining The Premier Athlete Brand in January. He will be thrown into the fire when he faces Rich Swann in Queens and AR Fox in Brooklyn. These will be his highest profile singles matches yet in DGUSA/EVOLVE. Can Konley reach the next level?

-New Talent Opportunity: January’s New Talent Initiative will be followed up on this weekend with Tim Donst, Blake Edward Belakus and #AllEgo all returning for bigger chances. In addition, #WalkingWeapon is back after impressing in last November’s Style Battle tournament. New debuts this weekend include JT Dunn on Friday (coming off winning the FIP Tag Team Titles last weekend) and Ryan Rush on Saturday. Who will continue to break through?
These are just a few of the things to look out for on this weekend’s EVOLVE cards. Check theDGUSA.tv Events section for complete lineups.

May 7th: We look forward to returning to NYC this weekend! Thank you for reading today’s WWNLive Alerts. We’ll be back soon with even more news for this weekend.

Global Force is Making Major Waves

GFW and AAA

Ever since Jeff Jarrett announced the launch of Global Force Wrestling he has been making waves in the wrestling world. Making major moves bring Hermie Salder on board and working Dave Broome of “The Biggest Loser” we figure that Global will hit the ground running. Now another groundbreaking announcement has been made. Global Force Wrestling will partner with AAA wrestling out of Mexico with a talent exchange. AAA is the largest wrestling promotion in Mexico and has been making moves of its own with their TV deal with Mark Burnett’s El Rey network.

One good way for a wrestling company to thrive is a talent exchange with a solid organization. It allows for talent to not get stale and them to create new and interesting rivalries. Jarrett is no stranger to AAA and has worked down there over the past few years. He connects with the Mexican fans and this partnership will allow both companies some major exposure. Keep on the lookout as Global Force appears to be making some more waves in the wrestling world.

ROH is Coming to PPV

ROH PPV

This week Ring of Honor Wrestling announced that it is taking another huge step in its evolvement. They will be airing their annual Best In The World event on television PPV. Yes for the first time ever you will be able to order a ROH PPV from your local cable provider. Just recently they announced that their two shows with NJPW will be available on iPPV via Ustream but going to actual PPV is a huge step.

This move maybe right on time for Ring of Honor. They have long been the number 3 wrestling organization in the United States but the between them and number 2 could be closing. Also with the WWE Network changing how they do their now labeled “Special Events” and cable providers shying away from them there is a gap where those companies will need content. TNA has scaled back their PPV events to 4 per year so there is another avenue to exploit. Ring of Honor and Sinclair maybe a national TV deal away from really making a move.

The Best in The World event is being held in Nashville, TN on June 22nd. This gives ROH two months of solid promotion time. The internet fan base is already buzzing and Ring of Honor fans are generally very loyal and supportive. The 24.95 price point to me is great for PPV. I actually have wondered why TNA had not priced their events in that price range. This is a huge step for Ring of Honor with hopefully more to come.

What The Indies Are Up To

OVW

The most famous training territory in the country is still producing top quality television. Ohio Valley Wrestling may not be affiliated with the WWE or TNA anymore but they are still going strong down in Louisville, KY. So straight from the OVW website to you we present their latest episode.
OVW Episode 764
After the way Marcus Anthony retained his OVW Heavyweight Championship, Danny Davis orders Ryan Howe and Marcus Anthony to compete in a rematch for the Heavyweight Championship. Gilbert Corsey interviews Trailer Park Trash about how the Body Guy was able to cheat his way out of the first blood match.

Championship Wrestling From Hollywood

Championship Wrestling from Hollywood

Championship Wrestling from Hollywood has some of the best production values of any independent promotion. I guess being from Hollywood that should be expected. They also have some high quality wrestling going on down there. Check out guys like Adam Pearce, Colt Cabana and former TNA talent Joey Ryan doing their thing in Hollywood. They are going to take a run at going national with a deal with MAVTV that will bring their program to 40 million homes via Direct TV.

Join The Force with Jeff Jarrett

Global Force Wrestling

On this past Monday Jeff Jarrett confirmed what most of the wrestling world has been buzzing about. He is starting his own promotion called Global Force Wrestling. After teasing the internet with the hashtag #ItsComing we now know what Jeff was talking about. Here is the press release from Global Force Wrestling.

GFW Press Release

It is nice to see more competition coming into the United States. Jarrett definitely knows wrestling and was very successful in launching TNA. He now has the chance to do it again. He has a good eye for talent and a lot of young aspiring performers will have another opportunity to prove they have what it takes to be in the wrestling business. I believe this will be a successful for the Jarrett’s and anybody who is working with them.

Ring of Honor Returns to iPPV

ROH NJPW

Ring of Honor Wrestling made a huge announcement today. They will be returning to the world of iPPV with their new partner Ustream. They will broadcast their May 10th Global Wars and May 17th War of The Worlds shows with New Japan Pro Wrestling. Ustream is an excellent service when it comes to live streaming content. They have a 10 year track record of being reliable streamer of international events.

This is huge news for wrestling fans that were afraid they were not going to be able to see these historic cards live. Both of these super shows will be available for 14.99 each and available on demand after the events. We at Ring Time are very excited about being able to join the rest of the wrestling and being a part of these historic cards. This will be a great opportunity for ROH to showcase some of the best wrestlers in the world.

February 6th: We would like to thank WWE.com for the article they did yesterday on Ring Of Honor, which includes quotes from DGUSA Vice President Gabe Sapolsky and plugs for DGUSA & EVOLVE. We were as surprised as anyone when WWE called Gabe last week for quotes. WWE.com used most of the material Sapolsky gave them in the 30 minute interview. However, don’t read too much into this. It is just an article at WWE.com to give the site some unique and outside-the-box material. This is not a sign of any type of a working relationship or an “invasion angle.” It is very cool of WWE.com to give a non-WWE entity these props. We really appreciate it and it was very generous of WWE. Read the article here.

February 6th: WWE isn’t the only one giving some props to DGUSA. Check out Scott Kelly from the legendary and influential underground band Neurosis wearing a DGUSA shirt at the huge Hellfest festival:

Alleged Indie Shutout of WM31

Austin Aries DG

Every year during Wrestlemania week indie promotions from all of the country set up shop where the WWE is hosting their big event. It’s a good chance to set up some super independent cards and great chance for those performers to get to showcase their talent. The rumor that is floating out there is that the WWE is trying to put a stop to this. At least that is the word floating around on numerous websites. At Ring Time we try not to operate in hear say, but I felt like this needs some addressing.

Wrestlemania 31 will be in Santa Clara, CA and it is being reported that the WWE has locked down a non-compete clause with the city and many of the hotel chains in the area. I hope this is not true but if so that would be a total dick move by the WWE. Don’t get me wrong I don’t think this will stop the indie shows but just push them further outside the city but it will have an impact. I am not sure what the goal of the WWE is or maybe they feel like the small companies are leaching off their event.

One a personal note I am not a fan of the idea. I enjoyed all the events that surrounded Wrestlemania 27 and got see some guys in person that I had only perform on my computer. I was at a Dragon Gate show that I got to see 3 guys who are now under contract in the WWE and 1 guy in TNA. It was the first time I saw a guy named Brodie Lee who you now known as Luke Harper from the Wyatt family. That same show featured a match with Jon Moxely who is now Dean Ambrose of The Shield. I also think it’s a great opportunity for the WWE to get up and close on some future talent. Either way I hope there is a better solution that will arrive before next year.
